Medical Cannabis and Alzheimer’s Disease

AD may significantly impact the whole family. This progressive neurologic disorder leads to memory loss, cognitive decline, emotional issues, behavioral disorders and speech problems. Conventional treatments do not stop or reverse its progression, finding an effective therapy is a high medical priority.

How Medical Cannabis Works

Research has demonstrated that cannabinoids can clears up some of the tangled brain proteins and clogging plaques, which are the biological hallmarks of Alzheimer’s. Cannabinoids are also shown to reduce inflammation in brains, that’s another physical tag of Alzheimer’s.

Most current Alzheimer’s drugs aim to reduce either the disease’s inflammation, or brain tangles and plaques. But cannabinoids attacks on all three fronts at once.

Importantly, cannabinoids also reverse and prevent the development of cognitive deficits.

In addition, cannabinoids are used to relieve agitation, aggression, violence, irritability, apathy, sleep problem — the most challenging symptoms that drive the severity of the disease.

We understand the challenges faced by patients and families impacted by AD,a medical cannabis treatment can be of help.
